THE ARTIST

Mr. Cassius Marcellus Coolidge (1844-1934) was the artist who created the whimsical “Poker Dogs” a series of oil paintings made in the 1920s. The paintings depict a group of dogs not only playing poker, but also engaged in other usually human activities. The Poker Dogs achieved national recognition from the 30s through the 60s by appearing on calendars and various other advertising media.

DeMarco Productions and Marcella Coolidge, the daughter of the artist have made available reproductions of his portfolio. Through the magic of computer enhancement and the patented Chromium Image process developed at S&G Graphics Inc., a unique visual multicolored metalized effect is created producing prints such that the Dogs are artistically brought into the room with the viewer.  Eight of the most popular scenes are available on a limited basis produced by the Chromium process. The entire portfolio is available for licensing.
